CITGO RACING HEADS TO NEW YORK FOR SIX HOUR CLASSIC
Duno, Goossens to be joined by Johansson at The Glen
May 30, 2006, Los Angeles, CA.The CITGO Racing team is on its way to
scenic
upstate NY for a six-hour competition at Watkins Glen International
in
Watkins Glen, NY. The Rolex Sports Car Series Sahlen's Six Hours of
The Glen
will be this Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3. Milka Duno and Marc
Goossens
will be joined by Stefan Johansson in the #11 CITGO Pontiac Riley for
the
25th running of this historic sportscar event.
This will be Milka's second of three races of the 2006 season with
Goossens,
who teamed with her for the first time at Laguna Seca, and her first
race
with Johansson - one of the top drivers in the world of international
motorsports with success in Formula One, IndyCar and sportscar racing.
Milka and Marc scored a 7th place finish in their first race together
at
Laguna Seca and hope to increase that synergy with the addition of Stefan
for the only six-hour race on the 2006 Grand American Rolex Sports Car
Series Championship.
Milka Duno
"I always look forward to the six-hour race at The Glen - it has
such an
incredible history behind it. The circuit is both beautiful and challenging
and we'll need to be well-prepared for what I'm sure will be a very
competitive race. It will be great to race again with Marc - and to
race for
the first time with Stefan is an incredible opportunity. We have a very
positive and accomplished CITGO/SAMAX crew and we're all working very
well
together. The six-hour format on the 3.4-mile road course creates many
interesting variables that we'll need to be fully aware of and capitalize
on. I'm looking forward to the challenge."
Marc Goossens
"I'm very much looking forward to joining the CITGO/SAMAX Motorsport
team
and Milka again at Watkins Glen. Having Stefan on board, too, is a positive
move for this six-hour race. I think we can be a strong combination
of
drivers and hopefully we can continue making progress on what we started
at
Laguna Seca with Steve Challis and the whole team."
Stefan Johansson
"I am excited about the Six Hours of Watkins Glen as it is one
of the
classic races on the sports-car calendar, and I would love to add that
event
to my portfolio. I am also very excited about joining the CITGO team
for
this weekend; I have followed their progress and have been very impressed
with the way they prepare their cars and the team they have built in
the
past year or so. I believe we have a strong combination of talent in
our
driver lineup and if we can have a clean race, we should be in a good
position to climb on the podium."
The Six Hours of the Glen is round eight of the season and will begin
at
2:30pm EDT on Saturday, June 3. It will be televised live on SPEED.
