MILKA DUNO TO APPEAR AT XTREME INDY JAM 2009

LOS ANGELES, CA – October 1, 2009 – This Saturday, October 3, 2009, IndyCar Driver Milka Duno, a two-time winner at Homestead Miami Speedway in the Rolex Series, and one of the most successful female sport car racers in history, will headline the Xtreme Indy Jam 2009 taking place from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Xtreme Indoor Karting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

There will  be a VIP Meet-and-Greet with Duno, who will be signing autographs and copies of her new children’s book “Go, Milka Go” from 1pm to 3pm. Duno’s award-winning book will be on sale at the event – with all proceeds going to the “Milka Way” program – which provides the opportunity for Duno to visit and speak at schools across the USA to inspire children and young adults to “Aim for the Stars” and achieve academic excellence.

The Xtreme Indy Jam 2009 is the first of many events to promote the Indy Car and Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Championships taking place October 10 at Homestead Miami Speedway. In conjunction with the Homestead Miami Speedway, local South Florida radio station 93 Rock will team-up with Xtreme Indoor Karting to highlight Duno’s special guest appearance.  The fun-filled, all-day event will include a variety of festivities including a Muscle Car Show and Battle of the Bands and a Hot Girl Dunk Tank - with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Memorial Breast Cancer Center. 

Duno is currently in her third consecutive IndyCar Series season – having started in the popular open-wheel racing series in 2007. Milka made history when she became the first Hispanic woman to compete in the world-famous Indy 500 and the IndyCar Series. In the 2008 season finale at Chicagoland Speedway Milka became the first Hispanic woman in history to lead an IndyCar race. She also led the most race laps of any female driver in the 2008 season – as well as being the only female driver to finish at the 2008 Indy 500.  In the Rolex Sports Car Series Milka scored three impressive and historic overall wins – twice at Homestead-Miami Speedway and once at Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Quebec.   Go, Milka, Go! - a book about Milka’s life and racing career, was awarded the Best Young Adult Sports/Recreation Book of 2009 at the 11th Annual International Latino Book Awards.

Xtreme Indoor Karting, South Florida’s only indoor race track, is one of the longest and fastest in the state of Florida.  Boasting a 90,000 square foot facility complete with a half mile asphalt track and a stock of 40 European Bowman Race Karts that allow for racing at adrenaline pumping speeds up to 45 mph.
