MILKA DUNO TO RACE AT IOWA SPEEDWAY
Second Annual Iowa Corn Indy 250 Scheduled June 22
Newton, Iowa (June 13, 2008) - Milka Duno, IndyCar Series driver with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, will take to the Iowa Speedway on Sunday, June 22, in her #23 CITGO Racing Dallara Honda at the Second Annual Iowa Corn Indy 250 to be aired 1 p.m. EST on ABC. Last year Duno placed 18th.
Iowa Speedway is known for its 12-14 degree banking on turns. In 2007, Duno placed 18th and this year, she will be joined by the series' best and brightest stars.
Duno also finished as the only female driver in this year's Indy 500, earning 19th place out of the 33 that finished the race. She is the first and only Hispanic female in the IndyCar Series. From Venezuela, Duno has proven to be one of the most successful women in the racing world. However, her accomplishments are not limited to driving. She is a certified naval engineer and holds four master's degrees.
Duno was featured in Speed Racer, a Warner Brother's film, as a race car driver. She has also released a children's book, “Go, Milka, Go!” which depicts her as a cartoon character emphasizing the importance of education for children of all ages.
