CITGO RACING'S MIAMI 250 PRE-RACE REPORT

September 19, 2004 - CITGO Racing's defending Miami champions Milka Duno and Andy Wallace will start 3rd on the grid for the Miami 250 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida today, Sunday September 19, 2004.

Due to a condensed schedule brought about by several weeks of major weather difficulties in Florida the qualifying order for today's race is to be determined by a team's position in the Team Point Standings. The CITGO Racing Howard-Boss Motorsport team is currently 3rd in the standings so Milka and Andy, in the #2 CITGO Pontiac Crawford Daytona Prototype, will start 3rd.

In addition to the cancellation of qualifying, pre-race activities that normally occur over a 3-day period have been adjusted to occur over a 2-day period.

Milka and Andy each drove the car during 2 practice sessions on Saturday and worked together with the crew to maximize the set-up. The team has needed to accommodate a major lack of grip on the track due to the ever-changing weather conditions and the intense heat.

As a testament to the driver's and team's ability to quickly adjust and prepare the car Milka and Andy were able to place the #2 CITGO Pontiac Crawford Daytona Prototype 2nd in each of the two practice sessions on Saturday.

There will be a final 20-minute practice session this morning before the 11:00am EST start of the 250-mile/109-lap/2.75-hour time limit event.

Milka and Andy won the Grand Prix of Miami here on February 28, 2004 and will be doing their absolute best to defend their title.

The SPEED Channel will provide live flag-to-flag coverage of the Miami 250 beginning at 11:00am EST on Sunday, September 19.
