Milka Duno 19th at Pocono’s Tricky Triangle

LONG POND, PA. (August 4, 2012) – Milka Duno finished 19th in today’s Pennsylvania ARCA 125 at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA. The 50 lap ARCA Racing Series presented by Menard’s competition was Duno’s second start at the track in an ARCA Series stock car.

Starting 22nd in a field of 35 entries Duno reached as high as 17th before settling in the top-twenty to take the checkered flag.

With all teams required to complete a mandatory pit stop before lap 40 the first caution of the race on lap 7 was determined to be a bit too early to pit and many were counting on yet another caution period to make their stop. With lap 40 rapidly approaching and with no caution on the horizon Duno and her crew had no choice but to make their mandatory stop under green flag conditions - and were still able to advance their position to 19th by race end.

Duno delivered her fastest lap of the race on lap 42 and her lap speeds for the last 18 laps of the race were quicker than her qualifying speed.

“We’re making progress and our finish here today was better than my first stock car visit to Pocono last year,” said Duno. “How much experience you have at a track going into a race is so very important and with these tracks in a stock car being so new to me it just takes some time. I’m learning with every lap and I took what I learned in the first half of today’s race and applied it to the second half – and it showed.

“In my time as Milka’s crew chief this was the best that I have seen her perform – it was her best race so far,” said team owner and crew chief David Leiner. “Milka’s doing exactly what she needs to do and its paying off.”
