Milka Duno 17th at Lucas Oil Raceway

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 28, 2012) – Milka Duno finished 17th in last Friday night’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menard’s race at Lucas Oil Raceway. This was Duno’s second career stock car start at the 0.686-mile paved oval in Clermont, IN.

With both of the practice sessions leading up to the 200-lap race shortened by rain Duno and her David Leiner Racing team didn’t get all the time on the track they’d hoped for before the qualifying session – but they used their time very wisely and were able to better their speed heading into the race.

Duno started the race 27th on the grid and was up to 19th just past the halfway mark of the race. In the last quarter of the race she moved up to 18th and then to 17th for the checkered flag – advancing for a total of 10 spots from her starting position.

“As a driver I’m never completely satisfied with a race result because I’m always trying and working very hard for a better result,” says Duno. “But when we’re making progress with each and every race - that is very satisfying - and that’s exactly what we are accomplishing. With every race I’m learning more and more and gaining valuable experience in my transition to stock car racing. We advanced 10 positions in this race and that’s a good thing and thanks go out to my crew chief and crew who always work so very hard.”

““We are making strides in our progress and I’m pleased with what we learned here and the experience we gained.” said team owner and crew chief David Leiner. “Milka picked up 10 spots and finished in the top-20 and that shows that we are heading in the right direction. Our next stop is Pocono and we’re looking forward to it.”
