Milka Duno Gearing Up for Successful Debut at Talladega Superspeedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 12, 2011) – After a two-month break from ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards racing action, there isn’t another driver as ready to return to the racetrack as Milka Duno. Duno made her ARCA Racing Series debut with Sheltra Motorsports in the series-opening event at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) and looks to carry that momentum into a top finish in the 3 Amigos 250 at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday, April 15.

Although Duno will be making her first start at Talladega, the stockcar rookie proved to be a fast learner in the season-opening event at DIS, where she ran in the top-10 for much of the afternoon. Although her promising run was cut short after being collected in a multi-car wreck, Duno proved she and her Sheltra Motorsports team have what it takes to finish up front.

“After running so strong at Daytona I have big expectations for Talladega,” said Duno. “We want to have that because we are competing to win. I am looking forward to getting back in the car and having a good race weekend. It is important to continue the learning process with both the team and the car.”

For the Sheltra Motorsports team, Talladega will be the start of a new era as they will debut their Toyota Speedway program after making the switch from Dodge after Daytona. The Jon Wolfe-led team proved their new speedway car will be strong after setting fast time during the official ARCA Racing Series test session at the 2.66-mile track in late March.

"I am excited to get back racing because we have been stranded in the shop for two months,” said Wolfe. “We are really excited to debut out Toyota Speedway program at Talladega. We were pretty happy with how the Toyota ran at the test and have come back to the shop and been thrashing hard since then to make our car a little bit better. I feel like we have made some big gains. We just want to continue our goal, like we had at Daytona, to come out with a top-10 finish."

Duno and her Sheltra Motorsports team are set to return to racing action for race No. 2 on the ARCA Racing Series schedule on Friday, April 15 for the 3 Amigos 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. The green flag will drop at 4:00 p.m. CDT with live television coverage on SPEED.
